Trump proposes significant deal to Canada—if it joins the U.S. as the 51st state

Trump’s Bold Offer: Canada as the 51st State?

Donald Trump has revealed details of a surprising proposal he claims Canada is now “considering.” The offer? Join the United States as its 51st state and gain access to the “Golden Dome” defense program.

Tariffs First, Then the Offer

After imposing tariffs worldwide, Trump quickly turned his attention north. To avoid further conflict, he offered Canada a deal: become the 51st U.S. state.

Canada stood firm. Former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dismissed the idea, stating it was never “going to happen.” In response, Canada slapped retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods.

Newly elected Prime Minister Mark Carney echoed that same position after his April 28 victory. He insisted, once again, “Canada is never for sale.”

Trump Isn’t Taking ‘No’ for an Answer

Despite Canada’s rejections, Trump hasn’t backed down. On May 27, he took to Truth Social to refresh his pitch.

His post read:

“I told Canada, which very much wants to be part of our fabulous Golden Dome System, that it will cost $61 Billion Dollars if they remain a separate, but unequal, Nation, but will cost ZERO DOLLARS if they become our cherished 51st State.”

Trump claims Canada is now considering the offer.
