Tragedy In Vancouver: Car Plows Into Street Festival Crowd, Leaving Several Dead And Injured

On the night of April 26, a tragic incident occurred during the Lapu Lapu Day festival in Vancouver, Canada, when a man in an SUV crashed into a crowd at around 8:14 p.m. The event, celebrating Filipino culture, turned into a mass casualty situation, with several fatalities and multiple injuries.

Vancouver Police confirmed the incident and stated that a 30-year-old man from Vancouver was arrested at the scene. Witnesses reported the driver speeding through the crowd, with one estimating speeds of up to 62 mph. The co-owner of a food truck at the scene described seeing bodies under trucks and people desperately searching for loved ones.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed devastation, offering condolences to the victims and their families. Elizabeth May, co-leader of the Green Party, also shared her shock and sympathy, condemning the attack during such a cultural celebration. The investigation is ongoing.
