Rapper claims Lyft driver refused her ride

Plus-sized rapper Dajua Blanding, known as Dank Demoss, is suing Lyft after a driver refused her a ride, claiming she was “too big to fit in the back seat.” Blanding says she ordered a Lyft to attend a watch party but was turned away by a driver who cited “very tired tires” and lack of space.

Blanding filed a lawsuit alleging discrimination based on her weight, arguing it’s as unlawful as discrimination based on race or religion. Her lawyers claim the incident caused her emotional distress and seek damages.

Many online users sided with the driver, suggesting safety concerns justified his refusal, while others debated whether this was true discrimination. Some, including other plus-sized riders, noted it’s common practice to request a larger vehicle like Lyft XL for comfort.

Lyft responded, stating they condemn discrimination and expect all riders and drivers to be treated with respect as legal proceedings move forward.
