However, President Donald Trump, one of the most well-known people on the planet, was not on this year’s guest list, even though the event claims to be among the most distinguished of its sort in the world.

You don’t need to search very far to see why Trump wasn’t accepted. A few years ago, Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, who has been the chair or co-chair of the Met Gala every year since 1997, declared that the two-time president of the United States would never go to another gala.

“He will never be invited again,” she told The Late Late Show with James Corden back in 2017.

She reportedly made the choice soon after Trump took office for the first time, and the decision remains in effect today, as his second term has begun.
