LOS ANGELES, May 7, 2025 — Leonardo DiCaprio is set to team up with acclaimed director Christopher Nolan for a new sci-fi drama titled “Stellar.”
Warner Bros. confirmed the casting in a press release Tuesday morning.
The film marks the first collaboration between DiCaprio and Nolan since 2010’s Inception.
“Stellar” will explore humanity’s first attempt at intergalactic travel beyond the Milky Way.
DiCaprio will portray a theoretical physicist leading a mission to save Earth from ecological collapse.
Filming is scheduled to begin in late summer across locations in Iceland, Chile, and outer space simulation facilities in Arizona.
“I’ve always been fascinated by Nolan’s storytelling,” DiCaprio said in a statement.
“He pushes the boundaries of cinema, and this script is unlike anything I’ve ever read.”
Nolan described DiCaprio as “the perfect actor to convey both intellectual gravitas and raw emotion.”
The film is set for a summer 2026 release and is already generating Oscar buzz.
Hans Zimmer will return to score the film, reuniting with both Nolan and DiCaprio.
Production insiders report the movie will feature groundbreaking IMAX sequences filmed in zero gravity environments.
DiCaprio has taken time off from activism work to focus on the role.
He recently completed a Netflix documentary about climate resilience in coastal communities.
Fans have flooded social media with excitement, praising the star-director reunion.
Industry analysts predict “Stellar” could be a major box office and critical success.
It will be Nolan’s first film since Oppenheimer and DiCaprio’s first since Killers of the Flower Moon.
More casting announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
A teaser trailer is rumored to debut during Comic-Con this July.
