One of Justin Bieberâs representatives has issued a public statement following developments in Diddyâs sex trafficking case.
Back in September, Sean âDiddyâ Combs was formally indicted by a grand jury and taken into custody at the Park Hyatt hotel located in Manhattan, New York.
The 55-year-old artist is facing serious legal trouble, with charges including racketeering conspiracy, two counts related to sex trafficking, and two more tied to the transportation of individuals for prostitution. Diddy has denied every one of the charges brought against him.
His trial began on Monday (May 12) in Manhattan, where multiple witnesses were called to testify. Among them was Casandra âCassieâ Ventura, his former partner, who accused him of rape, blackmail, and physical assault.
When Combs was first taken into custody and his Los Angeles home was searched by police in March last year, older videos involving him began to reappear onlineâincluding one featuring a young Justin Bieber. In one resurfaced clip, which was filmed when Bieber was just 15 years old, Combs talks about spending time with him and makes a comment about planning to get a little wild.
âWhere weâre hanging out and what weâre doing, we canât really disclose, but itâs definitely a 15-year-oldâs dream,â Combs shared in the video.
He added:Â âFor the next 48 hours, heâs with me. And weâre gonna go full. Buck full crazy.â
Thereâs also another clip from a few years later where Diddy suggests Bieber had changed because he didnât want to hang out with him anymore.
In 2011, the two also made a joint appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where Combs remarked: â[Bieber] knows better than to be talking about things that he does with Big Brother Puff on national television.â
These videos started gaining traction again soon after they were re-shared, quickly amassing millions of views in just a few hours.
With ongoing speculation and online chatter surrounding Combsâ past connection to Bieberâfueled by the current sex trafficking caseâBieberâs camp has now made a statement.
A spokesperson for Bieber told TMZ on Thursday (May 15): âAlthough Justin is not among Sean Combsâ victims, there are individuals who were genuinely harmed by him.â
âShifting focus away from this reality detracts from the justice these victims rightfully deserve.â
This response follows earlier reports where unnamed âsourcesâ also spoke to the outlet.
These sourcesâsome described as being very close to Bieberâreportedly clarified that his interactions with Combs were mainly for public appearances. They were not actually friends, and Bieber was said to be closer to Combsâ sons instead.
They also insisted that Combs never abused Bieber in any form.
