Individual Diagnosed with Aggressive Prostate Cancer with Bone Metastasis

An 82-year-old man has been diagnosed with grade group 5 prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 and metastasis to the bone, according to a statement released by his personal office on Sunday, May 18.

The diagnosis followed a medical evaluation prompted by increasing urinary symptoms. The cancer is described as aggressive but hormone-sensitive, which allows for potential treatment options. The individual and their family are currently reviewing treatment strategies with their healthcare team.

According to the American Cancer Society, grade group 5 indicates a high likelihood of the cancer growing and spreading, although it may not yet have extended to nearby lymph nodes or distant organs.

This diagnosis follows previous health updates where routine physicals had not indicated major concerns. A past biopsy in 2023 had also revealed a small lesion that was successfully removed after being confirmed as basal cell carcinoma.
