FBI Deputy Director Announces Renewed Investigations Into White House Cocaine, DC Pipe Bombs, and Supreme Court Leak

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino revealed on Monday that the agency will intensify investigations into several high-profile unresolved cases, including the discovery of cocaine at the White House, the unsolved pipe bomb incidents in Washington, D.C., and the leak of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs draft opinion.

In a post on X, Bongino explained that shortly after taking office, he and the FBI Director reviewed various public corruption cases that have attracted significant media and public attention. They decided to reopen some cases or allocate additional resources to push investigations forward.

One of the cases involves an incident in 2023 when cocaine was found near the ground floor entrance to the West Wing of the White House. The location is along the route used for staff-led tours. Secret Service agents discovered a small zipped bag containing a white powder substance during routine patrols.

Bongino’s statement also highlighted the ongoing mystery of who planted two pipe bombs on January 5, 2021—the night before the Capitol riot. One device was placed near the Democratic National Committee headquarters, and the other near the Republican National Committee building. Despite numerous leads, including surveillance footage of a hooded and masked suspect, a substantial reward, and over a thousand interviews, the FBI has yet to identify the bomber.

The FBI renewed efforts earlier this year by releasing new video angles and updated height estimates of the suspect, hoping to generate new tips. The unresolved pipe bomb case has spurred various conspiracy theories, including claims by Bongino himself on his podcast that the FBI may have been involved in planting the devices.

Additionally, Bongino announced plans to investigate the 2022 leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion that ultimately overturned Roe v. Wade. Politico broke the story in May 2022, but the Supreme Court’s internal inquiry in 2023 was unable to determine who disclosed the draft. The investigation included 126 interviews with 97 court employees, fingerprint analysis, and scrutiny of any connections to journalists, especially those tied to Politico—all denying involvement.
