Former President Donald Trump weighed in on the escalating conflict in Ukraine on Sunday, sharply criticizing both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a series of statements posted to his social media platform.
While acknowledging his past rapport with Putin, Trump suggested the Russian leader’s recent behavior signaled a concerning shift. “Something has happened to him—he’s gone crazy!” Trump wrote, appearing to reference Russia’s overnight missile strikes on Ukraine. “These attacks are senseless,” he added.
Trump reiterated his long-standing belief that Putin is seeking to take over all of Ukraine, not just portions of it. “If he goes that far, it will be the downfall of Russia,” he warned.
The former president also had harsh words for Zelenskyy, accusing the Ukrainian leader of inflaming tensions with his public remarks. “Zelenskyy isn’t helping his country by the way he talks. Everything he says causes more problems. I don’t like it, and it needs to stop,” Trump said.
In addition to his comments on Ukraine, Trump announced a delay in his proposed 50% tariff on European Union goods, indicating he had agreed to push the deadline back. He did not specify a new date.
Trump also continued his ongoing attacks on Harvard University, calling for greater transparency and demanding that the institution disclose information about its international students. He has previously claimed foreign influence is a major issue at elite universities.
Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, the House passed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” a sweeping piece of legislation designed to support Trump’s domestic policy priorities. The bill now heads to the Senate, where significant amendments are expected.
