JD Vance: If Russia Doesn’t Commit to Peace, “This Is Not Our War”
US Vice President JD Vance has held a press conference where he commented on the latest developments in Ukraine, warning that the United States should reconsider its engagement if Russia does not show willingness to negotiate, writes Gazeta Sinjali.
“If Russia is not willing to engage, then ultimately, the United States should say this is not our war,” Vance declared, emphasizing the need for a more realistic approach to the diplomatic blockade.
He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin – who is expected to hold a phone conversation with Donald Trump within 40 minutes – “doesn’t seem to know” how to get out of the conflict.
“We understand that there is a little bit of a deadlock here,” he told reporters, shortly before leaving Italy after a meeting with Pope Leo.
“And I think the president will say to President Putin: ‘Listen, are you serious? Are you real about this,'” Vance added, implying an effort to push forward a peace process.
