As Cassie Ventura began her third day of testimony for ex Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial, the judge called an unexpected recess as the defense showed graphic evidence.

The courtroom took a brief pause.

Amid Cassie Ventura’s third day of testimony on May 15 during ex Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial, presiding Judge Arun Subramanian called a recess while the defense began showing explicit emails and text messages during their cross-examination, according to NBC News reporters in the courtroom.

Defense attorney Anna Estevao, who was leading the cross, pulled up sexually graphic messages between the former couple from 2009 to argue that their relationship was consensual. As a highly explicit exchange was presented, the prosecution called an objection, which the judge sustained.  

Ventura—who is now married to Alex Fine and is eight months pregnant with their third baby—was seen whispering to the judge while in the witness box, with the official abruptly calling for a 10-minute break.

The fourth day of trial began with a heated exchange between the defense and prosecution over a debate regarding which texts and emails could be shown in court due to their graphic nature, per NBC News. Lead defense counsel Marc Agniflio argued before the jury entered that “they texted about everything,” but the judge said some violated federal evidence rules.

A number of them, however, were admitted into evidence, with the defense highlighting messages between Ventura and Combs—who dated on and off from 2007 to 2018—in which both spoke in detail about their sex lives.

“I’m so horny,” Combs, now 55, wrote in an email to the Perfect Match actress, to which she replied, “Omg I was just about to text you the same thing.”

In another exchange, Combs—who pleaded not guilty to all charges brought against him—wrote about a freak off at the time, “I can’t wait,” to which Ventura responded, “I can’t wait either.” 

Estevao pointed to another email from 2009, in which Ventura told Combs that having “freak offs” was “the next step” in their sex life.

“In order for me to be more open with the things we do in bed, I need to feel safe, like home…like this is my husband, and this is the only man that will ever have this aggressive sexual side of me,” she wrote in the email to Combs. “When we used to freak off when we were so in love there were no questions asked, it felt right. Like it literally made sense for the next step in our sex life together.” 

The 38-year-old told the defense that for Combs, “freak offs” were “integral” to their relationship. 

During the “Me & U” singer’s earlier testimonies, she alleged that her relationship with Combs included “violent arguments,” which “usually resulted in physical abuse.”

Despite not wanting to participate in the “hundreds” of highly orchestrated sexual performances, she said she agreed to do so because she was “in love” and “wanted to make him happy.”

“At some point, I felt I didn’t have much of a choice. I didn’t know what ‘no’ could turn into,” she told jurors May 13. “Sean controlled a lot of my life, whether it was career, sex, everything. And I didn’t have much say, I was super young, I didn’t know if he would be upset enough to be violent or not want to be with me at all.”

Ventura said that she always believed that she was in some danger with Combs, who was 17 years her senior.

“It was always in the back of my mind that I would somehow be hurt by him,” she said on the stand. “Sean is a really polarizing person. He was very charming, it was hard to decide in that moment when he was telling you what he wanted. I just didn’t know what would happen.”

A heated debate between prosecution and defense erupted before the jury entered the courtroom when lead defense attorney Marc Agniflio argued that more texts should be shown in the court. The judge said some messages violated federal evidence rules.

However, a number of them were admitted into evidence, in which Combs and Ventura spoke in graphic detail about their sex lives.

Cassie Ventura Says That She Participated in “Hundreds” of “Freak Offs” with Sean “Diddy” Combs

Ventura testified May 15 that while “it’s impossible to know” how many “freak offs,” she took part in with Combs, she said it was “hundreds.”

She alleged that her ex had filmed the sexual performances to use as blackmail against her. She said she told her that he was “going to release them” and put her “career in jeopardy.”

“He would mention them when he was upset about something. It was just a pretty common thing,” Ventura said. “I feared for my career. I feared for my family. Just embarrassing, all of it. It’s horrible and disgusting. No one should do that to anyone.”
