American singer, songwriter and actress Halle Bailey, known for her role in the film “The Little Mermaid,” has filed for a protective order after she alleged that she was repeatedly physically abused by her ex-partner, rapper Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., better known as DDG.
As reported by Page Six, Bailey claims that DDG was physically abusive towards her on several occasions and that the incidents, she says, continued after their split.
The first incident of violence, according to official documents, occurred in January of this year, when DDG came to pick up their son Halo. While discussing the child’s visitation schedule, the situation escalated. While placing her son in the car seat, the rapper allegedly repeatedly told her, “Get out of my car, bitch.” Concerned for the child’s safety, Halle did not want to leave her alone with the visibly upset DDG.

Also, during the argument, DDG allegedly pulled Halle by the hair and slammed her face into the steering wheel, causing serious injuries, including a broken front tooth. Although she stayed in his car until she arrived at his home, she was afraid for her and the child’s safety. After the incident, she notified his family and temporarily left the child with them. As evidence of the violence, she presented the court with photos of the injuries, including a broken tooth and bruises.
Bailey recalled another incident from March when DDG, without permission, entered her home and sent her a photo of her bed with a message that, according to her interpretation, was an accusation of infidelity. A few days later, the rapper came to her house again, even though she told him that she and her son were sick. In that case, she claims, he yelled at her, smashed the security camera at the entrance, and took her cell phone, which he then threw out the car window.
The latest incident occurred last weekend when DDG accused Halle of traveling with singer Brent Faiyaz, even though she made it clear to him that she was not in the company of men and wanted to celebrate Mother’s Day in peace with her son.
The court granted a temporary restraining order, which prohibits DDG from approaching Halle and their son at a distance of less than 100 meters, as well as any direct or indirect contact. He is also prohibited from possessing firearms as long as the restraining order is in effect.
As a reminder, Bailey and DDG separated in October 2024, and their son Halo was born in December 2023.
