The Black Brush Has a Competitor

The black brush has seemingly had its day. From cat eyes to black eyeliner to voluminous lashes, the defining black pigment of the eye has been the standard for decades, and the black brush was a staple in a makeup routine. But the game is changing.

First came the brown eyeshadow trend, which gave a more natural look to the entire makeup look. Lately, some girls are even avoiding eyeshadow altogether thanks to the clean, girly aesthetic that’s been all the rage lately.

Instead of going all out, though, there are two popular brush choices lately: embrace bold colors or just go all brown. And Hailey Bieber just adopted the latter.

In a TikTok she posted a few days ago, Hailey gave her followers a sneak peek into her evening makeup routine. The highlight was her use of a brown pencil for her makeup brush.

Bieber started by lining his upper eyelid with it and then used his finger to spread it upwards for a natural smudge. She then applied it to his lower lash line.

The brown liner offers a softer look and makes you look much more sophisticated than the black liner. Often, the black liner looks too much, Anabel quotes.

The brown liner is simply the perfect choice for the hot summer days ahead, where we all know very well that a drop of black liner doesn’t make us look that pretty.
