The 65-year-old country singer is dealing with a personal sorrow as her family releases statements after a loved one passed away.

Randy White, 72, passed away after more than ten years of marriage to “Something in Red” singer Lorrie Morgan. His passing occurred a few weeks after Morgan postponed several shows earlier this year in order to attend to family problems.

According to a statement from Morgan’s manager, Tony Conway, White was diagnosed with mouth cancer in 2024 and died early on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

Morgan posted on Facebook to notify her husband’s passing. She called her 17-year companion White her “champion” and “rock.” She conveyed her grief in her message and recalled him as a good man whose love was a gift.

On the same platform, Morgan’s son and his stepson, Jesse Keith Whitley, also paid a heartfelt homage to White’s passing. Reflecting on their years together, Whitley wrote from White’s hospice chamber, giving White credit for accepting him and his sister as his own and providing constant support and empathy.

He remembered times when White volunteered to help without hesitation, bringing him up at late hours, even from jail, and never becoming upset

Whitley also mentioned how White helped him rediscover his faith, pointing out that despite their disparate upbringings, White had a spiritual impact on his life. Calling White the most compassionate person to ever bless their lives, he commended White’s commitment to Morgan and their family.

Morgan’s touring itinerary started to change in the weeks leading up to White’s death in order to accommodate his medical requirements.

Due to a personal health issue involving White, Morgan cancelled her planned appearances and concerts, as was reported in April. White was being treated for mouth cancer at a hospital in Middle Tennessee when he was readmitted, according to her boss.

During that period, the couple had asked for ongoing support and privacy. Morgan’s current tour with the country music group Alabama coincided with the news. In order to accommodate the adjustment, Morgan was temporarily replaced on the tour by fellow country musician Pam Tillis.

Over the years, Tillis, who is well-known for songs like “Maybe It Was Memphis” and “Shake The Sugar Tree,” also worked with Morgan. Together, the pair recorded a number of songs, such as “I Am A Woman” and “I Know What You Did Last Night.” In 2024, they most recently appeared together in the special “CMT Giants: Alabama.”

Since joining the Grand Ole Opry as its youngest member in 1984, vocalist Morgan, 65, has been a mainstay of the country music industry. Morgan was born in Nashville. “Except for Monday” and “What Part of No,” two of her best-known songs, are still present.

In April 2024, she publicly shared White’s diagnosis in a Facebook post that read, “I asked my team to release this information today: Opry Star’s Husband Undergoing Cancer Treatment… We deeply appreciate the prayers and well wishes, and for continued support and privacy as we focus on Randy’s health and on our family at this time.”

On September 15, 2010, White, a retired businessman from Mount Juliet, Tennessee, wed Morgan in a small ceremony on the beach. He had four kids and ran a private landscape and property design business at the time of their wedding. The pair resided in an area just outside of Nashville.

Morgan is married for the sixth time, and this is her first marriage to a non-musician. Her first marriage was to George Jones’ bandmate Ron Gaddis. They had a daughter named Morgan Anastasia together after getting married in 1979 and getting divorced in 1981. She wed country music artist Keith Whitley in 1986.

Whitley passed away from alcohol intoxication in 1989. Later, from 1991 until 1993, Morgan was wed to Brad Thompson, who worked as a bus driver for Clint Black. After that, in 1996, she married singer-songwriter Jon Randall, with whom she later got divorced in 1999. From 2001 to 2007, she was married to singer Sammy Kershaw for the fifth time.

In a December 2024 Facebook post, Morgan reflected on a family photo, writing, “3 years ago. A healthy Ran at Christmas time. He is making some progress. I miss us there. We are strong and he is determined. I love you RanRan. Merry Christmas.”

Morgan was actively promoting her tour up until recently. In February 2025, she posted on Instagram, “ON SALE NOW! Join me with @TheAlabamaBand at @FootprintCNTR this April 17 in Phoenix, AZ! Get tickets before it’s too late, and we can’t wait to see you at the show.”

White was unable to attend those planned performances, nevertheless, due to her hospitalisation. On Saturday, May 17, she was still scheduled to make an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry House. Morgan continued to be musically active throughout that time by recording and working on other projects.

Cleopatra Records published her most recent album, “Dead Girl Walking,” on June 28, 2024. With ten tracks, it was her first entirely original album since 2016. Because it was created amid the passing of her long-time producer and close friend Richard Landis, the project was extremely difficult and emotional.
