More details have come to light about Jesus Guerrero’s sudden death.
Three months after the celebrity hairstylist died while battling an illness, his immediate cause of death was ruled pneumonia and cryptococcosis, a fungal infection, with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) as the secondary cause, according to a County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office report viewed by E! News.
The latest update comes after his sister Gris Guerrero, who announced his death Feb. 22, shared that he had been “diagnosed with gastritis months back.”
“It was never anything to get that bad,” she told Us Weekly in March. “So, we don’t know if that was a part of it.”
Gris said that based on “the paperwork” their family was provided at the time, Jesus—who worked with stars like Kylie Jenner, Jennifer Lopez and Kali Uchis—had lost 20 pounds before his death.
“We think it could have been something with his stomach,” she said, adding that his close loved ones were aware that “he couldn’t eat without it being painful.”
The 27-year-old admitted that Jesus, 34, often kept his health problems private, even from his own family.
“He didn’t tell a lot of people,” Gris said. “People who saw him said, ‘You need to get rest and help,’ and he seemed to believe he could push through it and get better and unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.”
Just days before Jesus’ death, Jennifer shared snaps that included him during a trip to the United Arab Emirates. And she was one of the many who expressed her grief in the time following his death.

“You were gentle and kind and loving, quiet and unassuming, but so powerful, and your presence was felt the minute you walked into any room,” Jennifer wrote on Instagram at the time. “You never demanded the spotlight. You never needed to make a sound to be recognized, your heart and your talent did that as effortlessly as your artistry did.”
Meanwhile, Kylie described Jesus as “more than” his friend. She emphasized, “He was a light in my life, a source of laughter, comfort, love, and unwavering support. I don’t know how I would have made it through the last almost decade without him by my side.”
